Rugture is a modern interpretation of classic oriental rugs, which are conceived using generative design methods and then traditionally hand-knotted in Tabriz / Persia. Using architectural 3D-software, these antique-derived designs can adapt and morph to your room layout and spacial requirements in more than just size alone. They are made to fit around the elements of living space: doors, windows, furniture, and therefore made to be bespoke.

The patterns are based on traditional nomadic designs from Persia, Anatolia, Armenia, Central Asia, and southern Russia. The people from this area abstracted the flora of their environment to beautiful geometric motifs and knotted it into their carpets in a pixelated form. Rugture wants to create this kind of abstraction using parametric design methods.

The generative process developed by Rugture creates unlimited possibilities for unique and intricate rug designs. Each rug is unique and the constellation of motifs changes with each design. The patterns vary from one corner to the other. Some of the designs may appear at first as if they were quadruply mirrored, but they are not. The motifs never repeat themselves and thus, even after decades of possession and viewing, one can always find new details.

COLLECTIONS

Classic

These pieces are complex and oblique reinterpretations of classical designs. With or without a medallion. At first glance, the designs seem to be quadruple mirrored, but they are not and each motif is unique and never repeated.

Adaptive

This collection deals with tailor-made designs that require a floor plan of the room to work with. The position of doors and windows, as well as furniture, can influence the patterns. It is also possible to let a user walk a certain path on a carpet through the dense/leaking patterns. In other words, direct the user in a semiological way through the room.

Dynamic

This collection breaks free of the rectangular format with some more elaborate shapes. In terms of pricing: The size of the perimeter frame on which the design is placed will be charged.

Modular

These hexagonal pieces, which are approximately one square meter in size, can be combined with each other and aligned according to space requirements. In this way, for example, room elements such as doors can also be connected to each other on the floor.
